Tsurugi Hina (鶴木陽渚, Tsurugi Hina) is the main point-of-view character in Houkago Teibou Nisshi.
Appearance[]
She has medium length strawberry blonde hair of an even length around her head reaching to her chin. Hina's fringe is trimmed across her forehead leaving her eyes visible. She wears a yellowish beige-colored sun hat with a green hatband wrapped around the crown area.
Personality[]
Hina describes herself as an indoor type person that likes crafting activities like knitting, needle felting, etc. She is a childish girl, being curious, stubborn (a persistence that sometimes pay off in fishing), impatient (that sometimes hinder her fishing), excited for new activities and interests but gets easily convinced/dragged by peer (Kuroiwa's) pressure. She absolutely hates bugs and other "gross" sea creatures. Seeing entangled lines triggers a sort of OCD in her (she must disentangle it or won't get peace of mind). She relieves tension by needle felting (sticking a needle into a felt doll) when she is nervous.

Tsurugi Hina has recently moved to a new town by the ocean. She likes indoor activities and crafts. She gets invited by a senior, Yūki, to join the Embankment Club which is centered around fishing.

After unsuccessful attempts at capturing fish and reeling in seaweed instead, the fish Hina had in mind is successfully found and captured. She prepares it to eat for the fishing group.
Chapter 8[]
Taking the train to a large fishing store Hina examines the range of goods from new coats to hats she likes. By the end, she has what she came for, a coat as well as the hat she saw that her friends bought for her.
